Is it possible to extend the results of anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler treatments with diet choices?

I get asked so many times if there is a way to extend the impermanent results of anti-wrinkle injections and temporary dermal fillers by diet choices?

While a particular diet alone will not extend the treatment results, it will improve the overall appearance and health of your skin by fighting off signs of ageing by feeding your body what it really needs.

If you are keen to safeguard your skin I would advise that following a certain diet is key to optimum post treatment results and also to your general skin health and appearance.  Your diet can directly affect both the appearance and health of your skin.  We encourage our clients to follow an anti-oxidant rich diet without processed foods as much as possible.  An anti-oxidant rich diet slows the ageing process and boosts immunity by neutralizing destructive free radicals.  Good sources of anti-oxidant containing foods are fruit, vegetables and legumes.

Sugar is one of the biggest culprits for accelerated ageing.  Sugar binds to collagen and elastin fibers in the skin, weighing them down and causing wrinkles and folds.  Foods like white bread, noodles and pasta (which break down to simple sugars) enter the bloodstream where they can attach to collagen and elastin.  The skins structure weakens and results in visible signs of ageing carried out by a process called glycation.

Alcohol causes dehydration, dry skin looks aged.  Reducing or cutting out alcohol is important for maintaining the plumped out, youthful look of skin and making wrinkles less obvious.  Foods that contain dairy, salt and caffeine also contribute to skin issues and premature ageing.  Avoid or reduce these if possible.

To keep your skin looking youthful, fresh and vibrant keep up with your aesthetic treatment appointments and follow an anti-oxidant rich diet, this is a win-win for your skin!
